I graduated from Georgia Southern in December of 2020 with a degree in Writing & Linguistics. My degree gave me the opportunity to study writing in a myriad of disciplines including: social media, nonprofit/grant writing, technical writing and so much more.
After graduation, I knew I wanted to tell stories, and be a part of something that was bigger than myself.
Those desires brought me to the Americorps VISTA (Volunteers In Service To America) program.
I recently completed my VISTA service, working at the Mediation Center of the Coastal Empire as a Community Relations and Outreach VISTA.
My job was to enhance the Center’s presence in the community. I mainly focused on social media management and assisted with other outward-facing communications, but I also have experience in fundraising and event organizing.
My time in the VISTA program has seen me grow both as a person, and a professional. It has pushed me to expand my horizons, more deeply examine my strengths and weaknessesses, and opened my eyes to the different ways one can communicate to create impact. With this knowledge and experience, I’m excited for the next chapter and whatever it brings!
